Brewster: An Explanation For New Players

    Posted: 24 Sep 2021 08:42 AM PDT

Hey everybody! I'm a massive fan of Animal Crossing, and I have been ever since I first played the original on GameCube back in 2002. I know yesterday's direct has a lot of people excited, but I've also seen a lot of confusion from newcomers to the series. I'm hoping this post can share who Brewster is, what he does, and why his return to the series is important! So, without further ado...

    Who the hell is Brewster?

Brewster was an NPC added in Wild World, a coffee salesman who took his craft very seriously. A man of few words, Brewster could be considered cold, but he warms up as you continue to buy more coffee.

Okay, but why was he so requested? What does Brewster even do?

Brewster's actual mechanics are pretty simple. You can buy coffee, you can play a minigame where you make coffee for villagers, and you can store Gyroids. Not much, really.

That's all? Why did people want Brewster back so bad?

New Horizon is a great game, but it's missing a ton of features that have been in all the past games. The game promised updates, but we've only really had one or two really substantial updates in the year and a half since launch. Brewster isn't a major gameplay addition, but he became a sort of mascot for content that should be in but isn't for whatever reason. Gyroids, the post office crew, Kapp'n, Tortimer, Katrina, Gracie, Digby, Dr Shrunk, and more. His announcement means that they're finally listening, and that this update and future ones can hopefully make this game as great as it should be.

Throwback to when I made this more than a year ago to celebrate the game release, back in the day I was 100% sure Brewster was going to be in the game from the begining so it's nice to see he was finally announced
