Your Island is Good Enough

Just wanted to send some good vibes to all those who, like me, may be redoing their whole island in time for the update.

Like many of us, I've seen some incredible islands on here, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. Yes, it sometimes makes me feel inadequate about my island, but a few things to keep in mind:

•While they look objectively great, a lot of them are dense in furniture, lakes, and flowers. The lag must be insane. I have a few places on my island that are half as complex as some of the best islands I've seen, and they're laggy. I can't imagine making them more so, or having an island where the entire place lags.

•Some island designs just aren't practical. Again, gorgeous as they may be - I've seen quite a handful of setups where I'm like "How can you walk through that?, What if a fossil spawns in that spot?, How can you shake that tree?," "So they have to use a ladder every time they want to reach that part of the island?," etc. As a designer you have to decide what's more important, form or function. It's an individual choice of course, but don't feel bad if part of the reason your island isn't as elaborate as you'd like is because you want every area to be easily accessible.

•At the end of the day, it's a game that should be about relieving stress, not creating it. Not to mention the fact that the update is gonna bring a ton of new features many of us would rather focus on than going around trying to perfect our island. And besides, you can always redo it if the mood strikes.

Just wanted to leave you with these thoughts this weekend. Have fun! Your island is good enough because it's yours.
