Ages ago, I made a post about aiming to get every villager photo. I gave up about within a week... I am now trying again, this time I have clear goals. And while impossible, maybe. I'll try my best

Happy Home Paradise does NOT end with 30 Houses!

    Posted: 18 Nov 2021 03:20 AM PST

I wanted to put this out there as I keep seeing misinformation being spread by people with large platforms. I'm not sure how many houses I had actually done by any of these unlocks, but I think I'm at about 47, and I unlocked these at various points:

    • Your salary goes up to 20,000 poki edit: it was commented that there are also 30,000 and 40,000 promotions
    • You unlock 8 more soundscapes
    • The cafe expands to have an upper floor, which Lottie asks to be a gallery.
    • The restaurant expands to have an upper floor, which Lottie asks to be a private dining room
    • You get a party for 40 houses, though this didn't specifically unlock anything so maybe this just happens for every 10 house milestone.
    • Lottie gives you a new app called 'Room Sketch' which you can use anywhere. It's basically just a sandbox designer where you can mess with room designs for fun. You can take these designs over to the island though and use them as actual houses.
    • Apparently you can unlock a 'patient ward' room in the hospital by using the donation box.
    • Not linked to house number, but some people don't know that if you spend a certain amount of poki, you unlock the paradise planning catalogue. It's like the regular catalogue, but you have access to all regular items you've used in houses (aka no DIY related items), in any colour. Buying these will then put them in your normal catalogue so you can use bells next time.

I'm not sure if this is all the content, but it seems to be most of what I can find. By the way, if you're not unlocking anything, try travelling to the next day. Sometimes it forces a day's wait before things are unlocked, even if you reached that number of houses.

    Edit after reading some comments:

    • The extra hospital room is unlocked immediately after you build the hospital. You just speak to the receptionist and donate 120,000 poki
    • It seems like the private dining room might be tied to the amount of roommate houses you have. Possibly it's five.
    • It could also be that the gallery is unlocked by having 5 two story houses - this would be consistent with my game - some people have said this wasn't true for them though so it might just be tied to a house number.
    • There doesn't appear to be any new abilities other than what I already mentioned, but the 10 houses milestone seems to continue forever.

    Excuse the janky photos

Am I the only one who only likes using "real" items in-game

    Posted: 17 Nov 2021 07:28 PM PST

I am not trying to hate on beautiful, creative projects. I am just seeing if anyone else feels how I do.

Whenever I see illusions made out of game items stacked on top of each other or patterns inside houses that depict beautiful, outside places I think it's so cool and creative! but my brain is also like "well that's not what it looks like outside that window in this game" or, "functionally that doesn't operate on the island." and it kind of ruins the in-game experience for me. I love seeing what people can come up with and have so much respect! Like it's amazing how people can see an item and adjust it to their vision to translate it into something completely different! but for some reason, it doesn't appeal to what I would want to do in a game because it usually only looks good from certain angles or in the photo. I know it's not really a giant skyscraper, it's just 6 pannels stacked on terraforming or something! maybe I'm just uncreative and not very fun haha!

Another example is like water that's not actually terraformed water it's just a pathway to look like water! Awesome picture, I would hate to play with it on my island though because I'm like...this isn't actually water

**EDIT Wow!! I did not think this would blow up! I guess on all the top social media's it seems to understandably value aesthetic over functionality but to see everyone's sentiments echoed honestly means a lot! I'm not here to hate on people with aesthetic islands. I'm just so happy to see representation of people that value the functionality of the game and interacting with villagers! I think those who mentioned how it feels less immersive and more like a dollhouse to me is exactly what I was feeling. But the beauty of the game is we all have the right to choose!! By seeing this amount of support though, I've definitely alleviated so much guilt that at least, I have experienced by prioritizing a functioning island over aesthetic! Which I think is common in social media, to feel guilty you do not "look" as good as something else!
