Today I learned this cabinet at Lottie’s can access your HOME storage. So when the monkey starts asking for materials you don’t have to fly home and fly back.

i’ve always been bothered by the way certain creatures are treated in acnh.

    Posted: 18 May 2022 10:53 AM PDT

yes, i'm talking about the spiders. :( spiders are incredible creatures and the game does them SO dirty.

before i get into it, i really don't want to hear "kill it with fire/squish it" or anything like that please. i understand that most people are afraid of spiders (i was/am too!), and that it's "just a game." i just think that acnh is doing a huge disservice to spiders (especially the tarantula!) when they depict them the way they do. hear me out :)

one thing that bothers me for example is that there are so many different butterflies, moths, 2 different types of mantis and locust, etc… but there's only one (non-tarantula) spider, and it's just named "spider." it's not called an orb weaver, which is what the spider in the game actually looks like. we have man faced stink bugs, rosalia batesi beetles, and madagascan sunset moths, but just "spider" ??? not an orb weaver (of which there are many many types), not any of the various types of jumping spiders, not even a basic sac spider or cellar spider? over 20 different specific types of beetles and ONE nondescript "spider?"

and wow, the tarantula. first of all, why can't we call it a rose haired or red knee tarantula? why can't it have a specific name like everything else in the game does? and more importantly, why oh why does the game have the tarantula ATTACK you?? tarantulas are SO docile. they make incredible pets and are such gentle creatures (towards humans of course). you know what a tarantula does when it's scared of you? it sheds its hairs and runs away (its hairs cause temporary itchy bumps and are not harmful). by no means does it BOOK IT towards humans to bite them!! :(

it just bothers me so much that the game makes tarantulas seem like aggressive, scary creatures when so many people already have horrible misconceptions about them. and it doesn't make sense that there wouldn't be specific types of spiders in the game when literally everything else, down to the goshdang fish and sea creatures, has specific real life names. spiders are already so misunderstood in real life, it's disappointing that they're equally as misunderstood in acnh. :/ does anyone else feel this way?
